J.B. McLendon

Actor/Singer

J.B. McLendon made his return to his theatrical roots as Andrew Thibault in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.  Though local audiences are more used to seeing him on stage as his alter drag self (Gassy Winds) both at the 801 Upstairs Cabaret Lounge and Aqua, he started at age 9 in his hometown of Annapolis, MD and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University.  He spent 16 years in NYC after graduating, and in that time acted, directed, wrote, stage managed (and bartended) until making Key West his home in 2007.  Performing highlights include two trips to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (MEN: The Musical (Man #5) and Hunting Humans (Lump), and playing “The Waiter” in Dame Edna: The Royal Tour on Broadway.  Production credits include Closer Than Ever and Joseph… (Director/Choreographer) and being a PA on the Broadway workshops of The Baby and Johnny  Project (Dirty Dancing), and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me.  An accomplished playwright, his first full length play, The Present, was produced in NYC, LA, and MD, and he is in the process of completing his second, Falling On Deaf Ears.  He would like to thank Sushi and the 801 Girls for allowing him to hang up his heels for a few weeks, Danny & the company for welcoming him into the Waterfront family, Greg Jbara (the original André on Broadway) for his insights, and his mother Andy for more than he could ever list. He dedicates his performance tonight to his “Angel of Music,” Miriam Wolfe, and RV Beaumont.

J.B. is a member of Actors’ Equity Association.
