General Audition Information

PLEASE NOTE:  All productions in the 2011/12 Season have been cast.  Auditions for the 2012/13 season will begin in May 2012.  Please watch here for updates.

  • AUDITIONS are held for all waterfront mainstage productions.  On rare occasions, a production is scheduled for specific performers, such as Red, White and Tuna.
  • WHEN: Auditions for the first show and musical of the upcoming season are held in late spring.  Auditions for all other shows are held in the fall. Watch the website for titles and dates.
  • WHERE: All auditions are held at the Waterfront Playhouse.
  • AUDITIONS FOR PLAYS consist of cold-readings from the script. Auditioners are allowed time to look over the audition scenes.  Don’t feel you have to memorize the scene.  It’s best to capture the essence of who you’re speaking to and what you want from them.
  • PERUSAL COPIES are often available before the auditions.  Contact information to obtain a perusal copy will be listed on the audition info.
  • AUDITIONS FOR MUSICALS consist of vocal auditions (accompanist will be provided), usually choreography and cold-readings from the script.  Details will be in the audition announcement.
  • AUDITION RESULTS are posted on the WFPH website.
  • ALL ROLES ARE PAID.
  • EQUITY ACTORS:  We do use some Equity contracts under the Guest Artist Agreement.
  • OUT OF TOWN ACTORS:  We occasionally import actors if we are unable to find a local actor to fill the role.
  • QUESTIONS:  Please contact artistic director, Danny Weathers at artistic_director@waterfrontplayhouse.org.
