The Waterfront Playhouse is delighted to present Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s beloved musical “Into the Woods,” running from November 20th to December 14th, 2024. Directed by Artistic Director Patrick New, this magical production brings together a cast featuring Key West luminaries including Lauren Thompson as the Witch, Jeremy Zoma as the Baker, and Jillian Todd as Cinderella.
A timeless tale of adventure, “Into the Woods” combines some of the most well-known fairy tales, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel, with an original story about a baker and his wife. Together, they venture into the woods to lift a curse and find that their wishes come with unexpected consequences.
This family-friendly production is an enchanting journey suitable for older children, teens, and adults, offering a night of music, magic, and lessons about life’s complexities with the brilliant score and lyrics of Sondheim. The Award winning Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square, is please to announce their On The Edge series. "With the theatre located On The Edge of the water as well as most productions chosen and designed to be performed On The Edge of the stage, it seemed like a winning title", said Managing Artistic Director Tom Thayer. Although a few productions, such as the upcoming musical The Rocky Horror Show will have more production value, the majority of productions, such as Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, The Informer, Bash, and Trunk Material 2 are created and designed to be performed simply.
Another difference in On The Edge productions is the time.
