Key West, FL– The Waterfront Playhouse is delighted to announce the Florida premiere of Paul Slade Smith’s sparkling new comedy, The Angel Next Door. This limited engagement runs from January 22nd through February 8th, 2025, offering audiences a chance to enjoy a hilarious, heartfelt production that blends rapid-fire wit, unexpected twists, and irresistible charm.
Leading the cast are celebrated performers Tom Wolfe and Barb Wallace, the dynamic writing duo behind TV’s Welcome to New York and numerous other acclaimed works for stage, screen, and television. Joining them are Chicago-based actors Dylan Rogers and Melanie Keller, as well as beloved local talents Jessica Miano Kruel and Jeremy Zoma.
The Angel Next Door, alternately titled Theatre People, takes a playful dive into the antics of eccentric artists, unpredictable love affairs, and comedic chaos. Directed by Waterfront Playhouse Artistic Director Patrick New, the production offers audiences a thoroughly entertaining evening filled with laughter, charm, and unexpected twists.

"With the theatre located On The Edge of the water as well as most productions chosen and designed to be performed On The Edge of the stage, it seemed like a winning title", said Managing Artistic Director Tom Thayer. Although a few productions, such as the upcoming musical The Rocky Horror Show will have more production value, the majority of productions, such as Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, The Informer, Bash, and Trunk Material 2 are created and designed to be performed simply.
Another difference in On The Edge productions is the time.
