Even though Mystery Fest 2013 has come to a close, you can keep the excitement alive with three great mysteries by Waterfront authors.

Jonathan Woods was a panelist on last year’s Mystery Fest Writers’ Panel and this year, Jonathan wrote the cliff-hanger introduction to the Mystery Fest Short Story Contest.  His stylish, no-holds-barred novel, A Death in Mexico, is a gritty and gripping quest for revenge and redemption.  A voluptuous artist’s model is murdered in the central plaza of a colonial Mexican town.  Inspector Hector Diaz’s murder investigation takes him deep into the town’s gringo expat colony, a modern Mexico corrupted by greed and drugs and the byways and dead-ends of love and lust.

Key West author, Roberta Isleib, has just released the third novel in her Key West Food Critic series, Topped Chef (under her pen name, Lucy Burdette).  Many local people, events, and places appear in the book, including the Key West Food and Wine Festival, Michael’s Restaurant, Randy Thompson at the Aqua bar, Key West Police Office Steve Torrence, The Studios of Key West, the Waterfront Playhouse, and the tarot card reader at the Mallory Square sunset celebration.

Hy Conrad, the author of last season’s acclaimed Home Exchange at the Waterfront Playhouse, has written his first Monk-based novel, Mr. Monk Helps Himself.   Monk and Natalie are on the verge of becoming partners in their own detective agency.  But that doesn’t mean they agree on everything.  Natalie wants to investigate the obvious suicide of a self-help guru, while solving the death of a clown could prove to be the most important case of Monk’s career, despite his fear of clowns.  If there’s one time when these two need to learn how to be full partners, this is it.
