WATERFRONT OPENS 76TH SEASON WITH A RAZZLE DAZZLE CONCERT
The Waterfront Playhouse kicks off the 2015/16 season with “CLASS: A Celebration of Kander & Ebb.” This two night concert will feature music from the legendary duo’s hit shows, which include “Chicago,” “Cabaret” “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “The Rink” and many more. The razzle dazzle numbers will be performed by a cast of 18 of Key West’s best musical theater talent.
The concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 20th and 21st. The evening of the 20th includes a post-performance party sponsored by the Elwell family. Tickets are $70 for this gala evening. The concert on the 21st will be $50 and features the same great concert but no after-party.
The concert has been coordinated by Danny Weathers and Bobby Nesbitt and will star David Black, Laurie Breakwell, Joy Hawkins, Denis Hyland, J. B. McLendon, Bobby Nesbitt, Christopher Peterson, Traci Reynolds, Randy Roberts, Carmen Rodriguez, Gordon Ross, Vicki Roush, Stephanie Sander, Marjorie Paul Shook and Danny Weathers. Jim Rice will be the guest conductor and musical director, with Joe Dallas on bass and Skipper Kripitz on percussion.
John Kander (music) and Fred Ebb (lyrics) are theatrical icons, having created some of the most famous Broadway musicals during their four decades of work. Their prodigious output include many of the most seminal theater songs ever written. Some of the songs in the concert will include “And The World Goes Round,” “Maybe This Time,” “Colored Lights,” “Cabaret,” “Nowadays,” “Class,” “All That Jazz” and of course, “New York, New York.”

The Award winning Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square, is please to announce their On The Edge series. "With the theatre located On The Edge of the water as well as most productions chosen and designed to be performed On The Edge of the stage, it seemed like a winning title", said Managing Artistic Director Tom Thayer. Although a few productions, such as the upcoming musical The Rocky Horror Show will have more production value, the majority of productions, such as Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, The Informer, Bash, and Trunk Material 2 are created and designed to be performed simply.
