Kyla Piscopink brings back the music and movements of the 1960s for a contemporary dance program at the Waterfront Playhouse.
Four performances are scheduled, opening Thursday, April 12, with an after-performance cast party in the Sculpture Garden.Programs begin at 8 p.m. April 12-14, plus a 3 p.m. matinee performance scheduled Saturday, April 14.Music of the late ’60s will provide the “soundscape” for this show, according to Piscopink, who played the role of Kate in The Key West Pops’ concert version of “Kiss Me Kate,” is an actor, choreographer with extensive credits in Key West.She’s appeared in “Stepping Out,” “Reefer Madness,” “The Graduate,” “The Rocky Horror Show,” “La Traviata” and more.Her choreography includes “Five Course Love,” “The Headdress Ball Key West,” “The Key West Burlesque Festival,” among other work.Tickets for “1969” range from $10-$50. The Award winning Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square, is please to announce their On The Edge series. "With the theatre located On The Edge of the water as well as most productions chosen and designed to be performed On The Edge of the stage, it seemed like a winning title", said Managing Artistic Director Tom Thayer. Although a few productions, such as the upcoming musical The Rocky Horror Show will have more production value, the majority of productions, such as Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, The Informer, Bash, and Trunk Material 2 are created and designed to be performed simply.
Another difference in On The Edge productions is the time.
