The Waterfront Playhouse holds auditions for “Home Exchange,” a world premiere mystery play by Hy Conrad, the writer/producer of the Emmy Award-winning TV series “Monk” and “White Collar.”
Auditions will be held Tuesday, Jan. 3, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Waterfront Playhouse. Production dates for the show are scheduled for May 3 to May 26, with rehearsals beginning some time in late March. “Home Exchange” will be directed by Bob Bowersox, who has performed and directed at the Red Barn and Waterfront. He is the artistic director of TheatreXP and is one of the producers of the Summer Stages series at the Red Barn Theatre. Onstage he has appeared in such productions as “Twelve Angry Men” and the “Shorts” at the Barn. He’s currently appearing in “August: Osage County” at the Waterfront and soon “God of Carnage” at the Barn.
“Home Exchange” is a suspenseful comedy in the mold of “Deathtrap” but with a bit of “Rear Window” thrown in for fun. A producer of TV crime shows exchanges her Manhattan apartment with a couple from London. Once in the English cottage, she and her brother (her traveling companion) grow suspicious that something is about to happen to the British husband.
“Home Exchange” requires experienced actors who are good with comedy. The complete character breakdown and more information are available at www.waterfront playhouse.org. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, but auditioners will have time to look over audition scenes before they are asked to read. Callbacks are Jan. 10, 5 to 7 p.m. All roles are open. All roles are paid.
For perusal scripts or questions, contact Bob Bowersox at ([email protected]) or at 302-540-6102.
