DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE,
by Sarah Ruhl
The Waterfront Playhouse presents
the Off Broadway hit “Dead
Man’s Cell Phone,” February 2nd to
February 18th. This wildly imaginative
comedy is by Sarah Ruhl, one of
the hottest young playwrights on the
theater scene today. “In this beguiling
comedy, Ms. Ruhl orchestrates the
annoying din of our contemporary
communications systems into something
resembling celestial harmony,”
The New York Times.
The production is sponsored by
Tom Oosterhoudt and Conch Color.
“Cell Phone” is the funny and
thought-provoking odyssey of one
woman who tries to make people feel
just a little bit better about themselves.
The NY Times calls the play
“a hallucinatory poetic fantasy that
blends the mundane and the metaphysical,
the patently bizarre with the
bizarrely moving.”
Directed by Stefanie Sertich,
“Cell Phone” boasts an impressive
cast: Carbonell Award-winning
actress, Lela Elam (“Doubt” and
“No Child…” at the WFPH); Brandon
Beach (“Glengarry Glen Ross,”
“Greetings”); Robin Deck (“The Best
Man,” “The Full Monty”) and Stephanie
Yosen and Shakti Assouline, both
of whom were in the hit production
of “August: Osage County” at the
Waterfront Playhouse.
