Danny Weathers *

Managing Artistic Director/Director/Actor/Singer (2003-2018)

Danny Weathers was the artistic director for the Key West Players, Inc/Waterfront Playhouse from 2003-2018. He has directed The Producers, Enchanted April, Monty Python’s Spamalot, She Loves Me, Noises Off, Augus,  Osage County, The 39 Steps, The Drowsy Chaperone, Leading Ladies, Other Desert Cities, Xanadu, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Lend Me A Tenor, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Twelve Angry Men, The Full Monty, Doubt, Regrets Only, Reefer Madness (I & II)  Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Urinetown, Educating Rita, The Glass Menagerie, Lettice and Lovage, Equus, Little Shop of Horrors, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, Olympus On My Mind, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, and Angels In America: Millennium Approaches, as well as numerous concerts and special events.

Danny was the Artistic Director for the Founders Society at the Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center for three years, where he directed Forum and Don’t Dress For Dinner. Directing credits for the Red Barn Theater include Jeffrey, Falsettoland, and The Food Chain.

Local acting credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, The Mystery of Irma Vep, The New Century, The Complete Works of Shakespeare, abridged, Forum, Lend Me A Tenor, Little Shop of Horrors, Deathtrap, I Hate Hamlet, Three Guys Naked From The Waist Down (also the pre-Off Broadway workshop) and Urinetown.

In 1975, he moved to NYC where he was on scholarship with the Joffrey Ballet. In 1978 he was cast  in the Broadway production of  A Chorus Line as Gregory Gardner, a role he played for over 4 years. Other NYC credits includeOff-Broadway in Olympus On My Mind, Tea and Sympathy and Strike Up The Band. He performed concerts with the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization at Symphony Space in NYC and at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. He was in the film version of Annie, the soap Edge Of Night, and a member of National Improvisational Theatre. Regional credits include a season with The Guthrie Theatre where he performed in The Threepenny Opera, A Christmas Carol and Guys and Dolls.

He currently serves on the board of the Theatre League of South Florida and is a member of Actors Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Actors.
