Artistic Director

Patrick New is thrilled to be presenting his first season as Artistic Director of the Waterfront Playhouse. In Key West he appeared as Laurence Olivier in Key West Fringe’s Orson’s Shadow, and directed Lost in Yonkers, Sex With Strangers and An Inspector Calls (Waterfront Theatre), as well as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and the World Premiere of Under Hunter’s Moon (Theatre XP at the Red Barn).  He started his career in Chicago as an ensemble member of the renowned Famous Door Theatre Company, and went on to work with Chicago institutions such as the Goodman Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, and Steppenwolf Theatre. Eventually regional theatre work followed including work with ACT (San Francisco), Seattle Repertory Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Peninsula Players (Wisconsin), Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and Baltimore Centerstage. In 2006 he was featured in the the national Broadway tour of Twelve Angry Men and has also worked in film (Ali, Flags of Our Fathers, Tenfold, among others) and television (Crisis, Private Practice, Cupid, among others)

Chicago directing credits include the World Premiere of Fooling Buddha (First Folio Theatre), the American Premiere of The December Man (Mary Arrchie Theatre), Hellcab (Famous Door Theatre), As You Like It and Theatre of Film Noir (Folio Theatre Company). Regional directing credits include Almost, Maine and Ripcord (Peninsula Players, Wisconsin) and The Little Prince (Clarence Brown Theatre, Knoxville, TN). 

Patrick New is a proud member of the Screen Actor’s Guild and Actor’s Equity Association.
